SVB in B:WDo you like the person you see in the mirror? When you take away all the material things are you happy?  Are you functioning in a state of unhappiness?  We all know people who are dealing with any number of issues that ends up taking up their time and energy. From those dealing with weight or sexuality issues, to others  who are trying to live up to others’ expectations or stumbling as they try to find their way in life generally. A lot of people really are just not happy when they look in the mirror.

I know it is not an easy process but we all must love who we are and stand in our truth. We are all responsible for our own joy and happiness. If you feel you are overweight, start exercising and eat better; if you are not happy in your current relationship, talk to your mate, get counseling or move on; you don’t like your job, look for a new one. Life is really too short to be unhappy or do “quick fixes” that won’t solve the problem long term. You have to do the work to reap the benefits!

In order for others to love and accept you, it must start with you. You must love everything about you; the way you look, the way you walk, the way you think and whom you love. Most importantly, love and forgive your mistakes. It is in our mistakes where we learn the biggest lessons about ourselves. I believe spending quality time with yourself is the best way to get to know you and love every part of you. Try praying, meditating, reading, sitting in silence and even doing a monthly check-in with yourself, and you will soon realize it is the best use of your time.

As Dr. Maya Angelou stated so eloquently many times, “Love liberates.” When you are able to love yourself freely and unconditionally, you have all the power you need to be the best you!! I can honestly say that is the best feeling in the world!!!
